The Aftercare division of leading commercial vehicle body build and repair specialists Bevan Group has won a major rolling contract to service and maintain the national delivery fleet for the furniture store giant Harveys.
The 100 strong fleet, designed and built by Bevan Group in 2006, includes 24ft rigid truck bodies as well as new demount vehicles and newly-configured three-pod demount systems. The novel three-pod configuration comprises two ‘pods’ or containers carried on the truck, with the third towed as a drawbar trailer. The inspection engineers carry a comprehensive stock of spare parts and guarantee to answer a call out within 12 working hours. Essential maintenance is carried out on-site at the time of inspection, thereby reducing costs and cutting vehicle downtimes. Kevin McQuillan, Logistics Director at Harveys is confident the pro-active new contract illustrates their continuous commitment to improving customer service “The demount system ensures our delivery staff spend the maximum amount of time possible with each customer. This new maintenance contract will further increase vehicle availability, thereby reducing delivery waiting times. “We have worked with Bevan Group for a number of years and they understand our customer-focussed aim to deliver high quality furniture, via a first class service. The image and performance of our fleet is of huge importance and the vehicles will be maintained to reflect this, ensuring our goods are delivered to customers safely and securely”
