Fresh from its CV Show debut – where one leading trade publication described it as “the most impressive looking light commercial vehicle” on view – the Bevan ICON has also been impressing guests at the 2011 Mercedes-Benz Van Experience.
Those attending were able to put examples from the award-winning Mercedes-Benz van range through their paces on Prodrive’s handling circuits, wet skid pan and off-road course. Meanwhile, Bevan’s revolutionary ICON Luton body, which is mounted on a 3.5-tonne Mercedes-Benz Sprinter chassis, formed part of a static display of vehicles – and certainly created quite a stir. Mercedes-Benz UK spokesman Simon Wood commented: “We strive at Van Experience to showcase new and exciting developments in the light commercial vehicle world, so with its market-leading payload and futuristic appearance the Bevan ICON was a very welcome addition to the line-up.” Developed in partnership with independent aerodynamics experts from Cranfield University and Hatcher Components, the Bevan ICON offers a market-leading combination of fuel efficiency and productivity, its payload capacity of more than 1,200kg setting a new industry standard. |
